The Cellular version uses cellular data. The Wi-Fi version transmits via Wi-Fi up to 1000 ft line of sight.

The Kestrel 2700 is always advertising its Bluetooth signal so you just need to turn it on. You should NOT pair the 2700 directly to your device’s main Bluetooth screen. First, make sure Bluetooth is turned on on the mobile device. You would then just need to open the Kestrel LiNK Ballistics app and go to Connect Device. Your unit with serial should be showing on the screen, press it to start the connection.

Battery life will depend on Bluetooth usage. Typical usage without using the app frequently should get 130 hours of battery life. Battery life goes down drastically when connect to the app and live streaming the wind values, especially in colder temperatures.

Make sure Bluetooth® is turned ON on your phone. On the Kestrel, go to the Main Menu->Bluetooth and turn it ON. Press the center button while Bluetooth is highlighted and check to ensure that Conct is set to PC/Mobile and it shows Available. Next go to the application that you are connecting with on your phone and select the Kestrel as the device you would like to connect with. Please note: if you do not find the Kestrel on your phone’s “standard” Bluetooth connection screen, that does not mean that the Kestrel is not working properly. Please first go to the application and try to connect through the application. The Kestrel should connect.

No. The Kestrel 2700 only works with the Kestrel LiNK Ballistics application.

The Kestrel 2700 will power off after 45 minutes of inactivity however this does not apply when connected via Bluetooth to the Kestrel LiNK Ballistics app
